Budapest was a significant city also in the 19 century, in fact it was the co-capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The city is a unification of two ancient towns “Buda” on the west and “Pest” on the east side of the river. The river Danube is the heart of the town.

The climate of Budapest is continental; it means hot summer (average of 21ºC) and cold winter (average -1ºC). The precipitation is not too much, but well distributed over the whole year.

In winter on some occasions the fog is common. Sometimes during the winter, the rain can turn into snow. In the summer, the temperature rises, and it can also reach 37º C.

Even if Budapest is an all year travel destination, the best time to visit it is in Spring, especially in May and the beginning of June.

The reasons are; suitable temperature (not too cold and not too warm), not too much tourist Flow, even if in Budapest there are always a lot and better prices than in a high season (summer).

Also, September can be an excellent time to visit Budapest.

Prague was a significant city and was the cultural, political and economic centre of central Europe. Prague was the capital of the Bohemian Empire and afterwards from the 19 century became part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire till its end in 1918.

When the Austro-Hungarian Empire fell, Prague belonged to Czechoslovakia till the end of 1992, when it was divided into two countries Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The climate of Prague is moderately continental; it means warm summer (average of 19º C) and cold winter (average -2º C).

The precipitation is not too much, but well distributed over the whole year. In winter on some occasions the fog is common. Sometimes during the winter, the rain can turn it into snow.

The spring is very changeable—the possibility of cold and snowy weather, especially the first half of this season.

In the summer the temperature is pleasant and in rare occasions exceeds 30º C.

Even if Prague is an all year travel destination, the best time to visit is from the middle of May to the centre of September.

The reason is especially for better temperature (not too cold) and good weather. I prefer May, June and September for better prices than in a high season (July and August).
